The former Wan Chai Post Office Building was built in 1913. It is located at the prime location of Wan Chai and it has been
serving the community until 1992. In 1990 the building was being listed as declared monument to celebrate its fascinating historic value. Later in 1993, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) had took over the Building as Environmental Resource Centre (ERC) and it has been a prominent spot for promoting environmental concerns in the community since then. After 26 years of serving, the ERC is now looking for a rebranding to cater to our living styles and behaviors in the 21st century.
The branding of ERC should regain the interest of the public in environmental issues, to teach and influence them to adopt green lifestyle. The interactive quality should be enhanced in order to attract younger generations to participate and learn
throughout varied media. The information gallery for conventional exhibits should provide flexible display solutions to adopt various media (graphics, objects, audio and visual, etc.). The library collection should be slim-lined to e-books and avoid duplication. The Garden should be reach out and corroborate with to the community.
